NOMADIC striker Lerone ‘Rudi’ Plummer was the hero of Moneyfields’ 1-0 FA Vase win over Corsham Town.

The former QK Southampton, Brockenhurst, Winchester City, Whitchurch and Fareham forward was signed by new Moneys’ boss Dave Carter from Fleet Town.

And he crowned a man-of-the-match performance for the Sydenhams Premier club by plundering their 13th-minute winner against the Western One visitors.

Ryan Inskip nodded a corner back across goal and Plummer was in the right place at the right time to head his new side into round two.

“Lerone terrorised their defence all afternoon with his pace,” said Carter.

There was disappointment for Carter’s old club Horndean who crashed out 3-1 at home to Barnstaple Town.

The Deans took an early lead through Mark Smith but never recovered after having Alfie Smith sent off.

New in for Horndean is ex-Petersfield Town forward Ryan Coker.

It was a disastrous day for Graham Rix’s AFC Portchester who had Craig Hardy red-carded in a shock 2-1 home reverse by Abbey Rangers of the Combined Counties League Division One.

The Royals went ahead through Jason Parish only to be undone by two second-half goals either side of Hardy’s dismissal, the winner coming in the 89th minute.

“We got what we deserved – nothing,” said Rix.
