TEAM Solent goal ace Jesse Waller-Lassen is waiting to hear back from Yeovil Town after a spell on trial with the Sky Bet League Two outfit.

The former Tottenham Hotspur youngster spent a day training with the Glovers' first team before playing – and scoring – in a behind-closed-doors trial game.

“Yeovil asked to have a look at Jesse and we’re not going to hold him back,” said James Taylor, manager of the Southampton Solent University side.

“It’s too early to say if anything will come of it but, if he did get the chance, Jesse’s university work would have to be taken into consideration.

“He’s playing well and he deserves to step up. I’m sure he will get his chance if he keeps scoring.”

Team Solent produced what Taylor described as “one of our better all-round performances” to see off Moneyfields 3-2 at Test Park on Saturday in the Sydenhams Premier Division.

Jim Orvis opened the scoring after ten minutes and, predictably, Waller-Lassen got in on the act to make it 2-1 before Moneys pulled one back approaching half-time. It took Waller-Lassen’s goal tally to 18 from 16 appearances.

Ade Olumuyiwa restored Solent’s two-goal advantage with 75 minutes gone and Moneys replied with virtually the last kick.

“We were in control of the first half and the only disappointment was conceding another set-play goal,” said Taylor. “A corner came over and it was kneed in unchallenged from two yards.

“But in general we defended quite well.”

Tom Chapman and Gary Austin scored for Moneys, who host Hampshire League high-fliers Otterbourne in the Russell Cotes Cup quarter-finals tomorrow (Tuesday).
