SAM Wilson has one last game to overtake Sholing’s Dan Mason as outright winner of the Sydenhams Premier Division golden boot.

The Salisbury marksman returned to the top of the goal chart last night after hitting a double in the champions’ 3-2 win at Fareham Town.

His converted free-kick and penalty put him on 39 goals for the season - joint top with Mason - as Whites bounced back from their Wiltshire Senior Cup final defeat and a 4-1 league thumping at AFC Portchester.

A goal in Whites' final league fixture on Saturday at home to Newport IoW, where the league trophy will be presented, will clinch Wilson the boot outright as the Boatmen have concluded their campaign.

Both Wilson’s goals were cancelled out before the break by Fareham’s Ash Tattersall and Josh Taylor.

But with 15 minutes left, Steve Walker marked his return from suspension with a header to secure a 33rd league victory for Steve Claridge’s Whites.

It takes them to 198 competitive goals for the term and over the 100-point mark.

Last night’s other Sydenhams Premier fixture saw Brockenhurst round off their season with a 2-1 win at Horndean.

Jack Burrows and Ryan Long scored for the Badgers, with Robbie Tambling on target for the Deans.
