NEW Alresford Town manager Richard Luffman has pulled off a coup by getting Geoff Dunn on board at Arlebury Park.

The attacking bright spark left Southern League outfit Winchester City for AFC Portchester last October in the search of more game time and scored 12 times in 31 appearances for the Wicor Rec club.

Now the Romsey-based forward is moving closer to home to become part of the Alresford revolution under former Otterbourne boss Luffman.

“Portchester wanted to keep Geoff and Winchester asked him to go back, but he wanted to come to us. We’re not paying money, but he was keen to come,” said Luffman.

“With him, Tom Sands and Steve Hall, it gives us a potent front three.

“Geoff scored 15 goals for Winchester when they finished second in the Wessex Premier (20014/15) and he averaged one in three for Portchester.”

Defender Liam Hall has also climbed aboard from AFC Stoneham. Luffman said: “If we can get Liam fit, we’ll have one of the best centre-halves around.

“We’ve also signed left-back Aaron Blaxall from Fleet Town and hopefully we can persuade Simon Everett (Alresford’s captain and midfielder) to stay.

“We’ve signed about 12 from Otterbourne and we’ve got a couple of other irons in the fire.

“If we can land them, we’ll be laughing.”

In addition, Alresford have welcomed in former Sholing development squad boss Adrian Grijincu as first-team coach. Grijincu, nicknamed ‘Victor’, used to play Sunday football with Luffman.

Despite finishing second to bottom of the Sydenhams Premier last season, the indications are that Alresford will be reprieved from relegation at the Wessex AGM on June 21.

The Magpies are holding a meeting for potential new players and people wanting to get involved with the club next Wednesday (June 15, 7.30pm).
