MIDFIELDER Luke Winsper has followed his former Weymouth teammate Sam Poole to Blackfield & Langley.

Winsper left the Terras last month in search of regular first-team football, having been forced to play a bit-part role following a metatarsal injury sustained at Bashley in 2014.

Just as defender Poole did last summer, he is dropping down two divisions from the Southern Premier to bolster Blackfield’s challenge for Sydenhams Premier honours.

On leaving Weymouth, Winsper explained “I spoke to Jase (Weymouth player-manager Jason Matthews) and he wanted me to stay, but I said I needed to play first-team football week in, week out.

“Because of my injuries I haven’t been doing that and I know it would be tough to get that at Weymouth. I feel I need to move somewhere else to get that run of games.

“It’s not the money side of things or anything like that, I just need to play football."

On joining Blackfield, an enthusiastic Winsper tweeted: “Happy to have signed for @bandlfc can't wait to get started!”

Former Eastleigh goalkeeper Matthews tweeted: "@Luke_Winsper @bandlfc all the best winni no doubt you'll be a success there #toplad&player"

Blackfield, third in the Sydenhams Premier last season, begin pre-season training on Saturday, July 2 (10am) at Gang Warily.
