SHARP-SHOOTING Dan Mason is a man on fire.

He added two more goals to his Sholing collection on Tuesday as the Boatmen hit back from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 with AFC Portchester in a Sydenhams Premier thriller.

Zac Mouland had got the ball rolling for the Boatmen with a lucky looping shot that bounced in via a deflection, but that was soon wiped out by Joe Bye, Jake Peppel and Miles Everett as Graham Rix's Royals took command.

'D-Dan' Mason got his first from the penalty spot after Jake Hoole had been fouled with the hour mark approaching and he spectacularly equalised two minutes into stoppage time.

Marvin McLean picked up the ball in the centre circle and, with all 21 other players on the field in front of him, he lofted a high ball towards frontman Mason.

The Sholing hotshot did the rest, cleverly chesting the ball down 20 yards out and unleashing a screaming volley into the top corner - his seventh goal in three matches.

Reflecting on a breathless 90 minutes, Sholing boss Dave Diaper said: "Well, what a game!

"The players showed true character to come back from 3-1 down against a very good Portchester side.

"For the first 20 minutes we played well with a good tempo and, although we got the first goal, we missed at least another three chances.

"Portchester were clinical in their finishing to turn things round and deservedly went 3-1 up.

"But my lads never gave up and totally deserved at a least a point with two goals from Dan - the latter being a goal to remember."
