AN injury to former Eastleigh youngster Joe Hayward forced the abandonment of Winchester City’s game at Mangotsfield United in the Southern One South & West.
Winchester were still trailing to a sixth-minute Lewis Powell goal when Hayward was hurt midway through the second half.
As he challenged for a 50-50 ball, the City right-back came off worse and suffered a suspected broken leg.
Play was suspended and a stretcher called for, but the youngster spent around an hour on the pitch, wrapped in foil for warmth, waiting for an ambulance to arrive.
Eventually the match was abandoned and Hayward taken to hospital in Bristol.
A Mangos statement said: “Everyone at Mangotsfield United Football Club would like to wish Hayward a speedy recovery.”
