THE next phase of the Gosport Borough exodus has started.

Dan Wooden, one of four players who chose to make themselves unavailable for the Boxing Day game against Poole Town, has dropped three levels to rejoin his old club Moneyfields.

He follows Adam Wilde, Chris Flood, Jamie Barron and goalkeeper Martin Rice out of the door.

Wooden, along with former Winchester City hotshot Warren Bentley and ex-Sholing pair TJ Cuthbertson and Mike Carter, all expressed their desire to leave the National League South club, who have been dogged by financial problems.

Wooden had spent seven successful years at Privett Park, helping the club scale the pyramid from the Southern One South & West to non-League’s second tier under the leadership of Alex Pike.

Having recently become a dad, it suits the 26-year-old to return to local football.

He joins a Moneyfields side who are well on course for their first Sydenhams Premier title, topping the table by nine points from Blackfield & Langley.

Next up for the Money men is a fourth-versus-first derby at AFC Portchester on Tuesday (7.45pm).
