BLACKFIELD & Langley kept the pressure on Sydenhams Premier leaders Moneyfields with a fourth straight league win on Saturday – but they still have a nine-point gap to close with a game in hand.
While the Watersiders were busy beating Hamworthy United 3-1 in Dorset, the Money men ploughed on with a 3-0 home win over Verwood.
Steve Smith’s first-half opener for Hamworthy was scrubbed out by Sam Wilson five minutes later.
Blackfield upped the pressure in the second half and got their reward through Liam Robinson and ex-Saint Jamie White.
Dan Wooden scored the opener for Moneyfields at Dover Road having recently returned to the club from National League South outfit Gosport Borough.
His 36th-minute tap-in from six yards was joined by second-half goals from Gary Austin and Nathan Paxton.
There was frustration for AFC Portchester who made the long trip to deepest Dorset to play Portland United only for the game to be postponed due to dense fog.
The top-six battle will now be rearranged on a midweek date.
