TWO of Blackfield & Langley's four new faces scored in Saturday's 4-1 Sydenhams Premier win at Amesbury Town.

With Moneyfields' game at Sholing postponed, the second-placed Watersiders trimmed the gap on the leaders to seven points by recovering from an early jolt at a boggy Bonnymead Park.

Having started on the front foot, Blackfield conceded from Amesbury's first attack as Cameron Roach put the hosts ahead.

Manny Soetan hit back for 1-1 before new arrivals Harry Jackson and Mike Turvey chipped in with a goal apiece and Jamie White plundered his 35th of the season.

Turvey, an attacking midfielder formerly with Folland Sports, played with Blackfield boss Glenn Howes at Gosport Borough.

Striker Jackson was formerly with Sydenhams One outfit US Portsmouth, where he scored ten in ten games.

Blackfield's third new signing Owen Hurst, plucked from Gosport Borough youth, made a cameo appearance at right-back on Saturday, but central defender Nick Tayler, back with the Watersiders from Horndean, was unavailable.

Looking back on the game, B&L's assistant boss Chris Farrell said: "It was played on a swamp, so conditions were difficult for both teams.

"You couldn't play any football, so it was about dealing with the conditions and getting a result.

"We camped in their half for ten minutes and the first time they came into our half, they scored.

"But we dominated and second-half it was one-way traffic.

"Amesbury defended deep in numbers and rode their luck at times. Considering the conditions it was a good three points.

"That's seven wins on the trot now. We can do no more to try and reel Moneyfields in."

With Moneys due to play at Team Solent on Saturday and Sholing next Tuesday and third-placed Portland (11 points behind Moneys with two games in hand) also facing tough away assignments at AFC Portchester and Alresford, Farrell believes the next few days will be pivotal.

"You'd think if anything was going to change it might be in the next two weeks," he said. "Saying that, we've still got to go out and beat Bournemouth Poppies at home on Saturday.

"And if anything does happen with Moneyfields, Portland are in the driving seat to take advantage. I don't see them dropping too many points."

ALRESFORD Town got back to winning ways with a 5-2 Sydenhams Premier win over Bournemouth Poppies.

The Magpies raced into a 3-0 lead through Dave Parry, Aaran Blaxall and Tom Sands and, at that stage, there was only one likely outcome.

But Poppies rallied to 3-2, with Stepan Neronski scoring either side of the break, before Lukas McCartney and Blaxall put Alresford back in the driving seat.

Richard Luffman's seventh-placed Magpies host Fareham Town on Wednesday (7.45pm).

TEAM Solent suffered their third home league defeat, this time losing 2-1 at the hands of Lymington Town.

Jemal Wiseman put Solent in front, but Nick Magee hit back before sub Harry Hawkins pounced for Lymo six minutes from time.

Solent travel to Hamworthy United tomorrow (Tuesday, 7.45pm), while Lymington host Amesbury Town.
