TOMMY Wright has catapulted himself into pole position for the Southern One South & West ‘golden boot.’
Salisbury’s on-loan Sutton United frontman now tops the league goal charts with 35 after striking four times in the Whites’ 7-0 demolition job on relegated Wantage Town.
It puts the former Otterbourne youngster three goals clear of Hereford’s John Mills and Tiverton’s Levi Landricombe with three league games remaining.
The bonus news for Steve Claridge’s Whites was that nine-man Tiverton were held 2-2 at Swindon Supermarine. It allowed Salisbury to climb to third place, within a point second-placed Taunton who drew 1-1 with champions Hereford.
After Claudio Herbert and Eddie Perrett had given Salisbury 2-0 breathing space over Wantage, Wright weighed in with goals in the 42nd, 56th (a penalty), 71st and 89th minutes, sandwiched around one from Taurean Roberts.
