SALISBURY round of the regular Southern One South & West campaign away to Bideford on Saturday knowing home advantage in the play-offs is entirely in their own grasp.

"Only we can lose it," said manager Steve Claridge, whose side emerged from the Easter weekend in second spot thanks to a 5-2 home win over Wimborne Town.

Salisbury left it late to snatch all three points at the Ray Mac as they were trailing 2-1 heading into the final stages.

But goals from Tommy Wright (2), Lewis Benson (2) and Kane O'Keefe ensured they go into the 42nd game holding a one-point advantage over Taunton and Tiverton.

If they do finish runners-up, they would host fifth-placed Evesham United in the play-off semi-finals.

"We didn't play very well, but thankfully we got the goals at the right time," said Claridge, reflecting on the Wimborne win.

"I wouldn't swap places with anyone now. We are in the box seat and it's up to us. Only we can lose it."

Former Otterbourne marksman Wright, on a season-long loan from Sutton United, tops the South & West goal charts with 38. He is three clear of Hereford's John Mills in the race for the Golden Boot.

The Southern League play-off semi-finals (second v fifth, third v fourth) have been set for Wednesday, April 26 (7.45pm), with the final to follow on Monday, May 1 (3pm) at the home of the highest-placed league finisher.
