BOSS Alex Pike says Gosport Borough feel “let down” by the Hampshire FA.

Borough withdrew from the Russell Cotes Cup final after the HFA switched it to this Wednesday – four days after the end of the National League South season.

As a result, beaten semi-finalists AFC Portchester have been reinstated and will face Bemerton Heath Harlequins at Havant & Waterlooville’s Westleigh Park.

Gosport’s financial woes have been well documented and the new date would have meant stumping up another week’s wages for their contract players.

Pike would happily have used his development squad instead, but the RCC final is sandwiched between two important games for Borough’s young guns who are homing in on silverware.

Gosport – already relegated from the NL South – bowed out with a 3-2 home defeat by Whitehawk yesterday having twice taken the lead through Ben Wright and Pat Suraci.

Poole Town wound up fifth in the NL South despite a 3-2 home loss to Dartford. Tom Killick’s men will not be allowed into the play-offs, however, due to ground grading issues.
