MONEYFIELDS are ready to hand last season’s runaway Sydenhams One top scorer a chance to shine on the Southern League stage.

The newly-promoted Wessex Premier runners-up have signed Ryan Pennery on dual registration from neighbours Baffins Milton Rovers.

Pennery excelled with 48 goals from 46 appearances last term, helping Baffins secure promotion to the Sydenhams top-flight and reach the Wessex League Cup final.

It was no mean feat for a local lad, just 18 years of age, who came up through the Moneyfields youth set-up.

Pennery tweeted: “Happy to return to @upthemoneys while dual signing with @BMRFC what a season ahead!”

Along with Pennery, Moneyfields have signed former Petersfield winger Joe Briggs from Winchester City for their maiden Southern One Central voyage.

Marley Ridge, who had a brief spell at AFC Totton last season, rejoins the Portsmouth club on loan from Havant & Waterlooville, while ex-Totton and Saints Academy goalkeeper Steve Mowthorpe has agreed to stay at Dover Road despite interest from elsewhere.

Baffins, meanwhile, have underlined their ambition to thrive at Sydenhams Premier level by welcoming former Havant & Waterlooville and Gosport Borough midfielder Perry Ryan into the Kendall Stadium ranks.

The 25-year-old Pompey Academy graduate is returning to football after a year out.
