NEW defensive capture Andrew Boyce made a winning start to his Eastleigh career at Blackfield & Langley last night.

Boyce, a centre-back/right-back signed from Grimsby Town, played the first half of a convincing 4-0 friendly win for Richard Hill’s new-look National League side.

The Spitfires led 2-0 at the break having undone their Sydenhams Premier Division hosts with their aerial prowess.

Fellow new arrival Mark Yeates opened the scoring on 25 minutes with a powerful back-post header from Ayo Obileye’s cross.

Pretty soon that lead was doubled with Craig McAllister this time rising to meet Ross Stearn’s corner.

On a wet, thundery evening, substitute Paul McCallum – Eastleigh’s  summer strike signing from Leyton Orient – stole the second-half show.

He made it 3-0 on 51 minutes with a far-post finish and then polished off victory from the penalty spot.

Eastleigh's next pre-season test will be at Sydenhams One outfit Alton on Friday evening (July 21, 7.45pm). The Brewers play on a 3G pitch, giving the Spitfires useful practice for their National League opener at Bromley on August 5.

The stormy weather put paid to Winchester City’s scheduled friendly against Sholing, but City’s Evo-Stik South West rivals AFC Totton managed to get in some useful preparation with a 3-0 win over Brockenhurst.

Brock, who had stepped in last minute to replace injury-hit Havant & Waterlooville, trailed 2-0 at the break, undone by tidy finishes from Alfy Whittingham and ex-Team Solent man Toby Adekunle.

Despite an exceptional performance by the Badgers’ 16-year-old goalkeeper Ed Kitcher, Nathaniel Sherborne added a third for Totton just after the hour.

Totton have slotted an extra friendly into their schedule, away at Team Solent tomorrow (Thursday, July 20). Kick-off at Test Park will be 7.30pm.

Salisbury, who had drawn 1-1 at home to Swindon Town on Monday, sent a development squad/trialists’ team to Andover Town.

Shane Lock’s first-half goal proved the difference between the sides as Andover triumphed 1-0 in front of a 204 crowd.

Former non-League duo Nicke Kabamba and Jamal Lowe ran riot as League One new boys Portsmouth racked up an 8-0 win at Newport IW.

The former Hampton & Richmond Borough pair accounted for seven of Pompey’s goals – Kabamba plundering five and Lowe two. Milan Lalkovic was also on target for a young Pompey XI against their Sydenhams Premier hosts.
