FORMER chairman Mark Hook and team boss Alex Pike have stepped down as directors of Gosport Borough amid a raft of boardroom changes.

The Evo-Stik South Premier club have undergone a complete restructure which sees locally-based businessman Iain Sellstrom taking over as chairman with immediate effect.

He replaces acting chairman Tony Stares who becomes vice-chairman, focusing on the footballing side of the club.

Mark Adams OBE is taking on the role of executive officer, armed with a breadth of experience in business and sport. Adams will work closely with Borough's finance director Jane Pike to iron out the club’s financial difficulties.

After standing down from the board, Hook has offered to support the club moving forward, while Pike will concentrate on improving Gosport's fortunes on the field.

The new mood of optimism rubbed off on the players on Friday as they saw off National League South new boys Bognor Regis 3-1 at Privett Park.

Star of the show was former Portsmouth academy youngster Chinedu Vine who weighed in with a hat-trick.

*Craig Feeney was another hat-trick hero as AFC Totton outgunned Chichester City 4-2 at the Testwood Stadium.

Toby Adekunle teed up the striker to give Totton the lead, which was doubled by Alfy Whittingham .

Chichester, managed by ex-Moneyfields boss Miles Rutherford, hit back for 2-2 at half-time, but there was no holding Feeney after the break as he completed a razor-sharp treble.

Totton boss Louis Langdown concluded: “Overall it was a good display. We know we have some frailties and that we have to work on a few things defensively, but going forward we don’t half look good!".

“We passed the ball around and I thought Alfy Whittingham was excellent today. We asked him to be a bit more controlled in his play, and he was. He broke things up, he scored a goal and he set things up."

*Alresford Town revved up for Tuesday’s Sydenhams Premier opener at AFC Portchester by sharing the friendly spoils 3-3 at Winchester City.

The Magpies fell behind to goals from City’s Andy Jenkinson and Jamie Barron before pegging their Southern League hosts back to 2-2 at half-time.

Jenkinson struck again for 3-2 before Alresford hit back from the penalty spot.

Aaron Blaxall, an own goal and Tom Sands were the Magpies’ scorers.

Next up for Winchester is a tough pre-season test at Southern League new boys Moneyfields on Tuesday.

They will need to beware Moneys’ free-scoring marksman Ryan Pennery whose 64th-minute finish sentenced Havant & Waterlooville to a 1-0 friendly defeat on Saturday.

*Salisbury slipped up 3-1 at home to higher league Weston-super-Mare.

All the damage was inflicted in the first half as Jarrad Welch, Ashley Harper and Dayle Grubb plunged the Whites into 3-0 arrears.

Salisbury reduced the deficit with a second-half goal from Marvin Brooks, whose old club Poole Town travel to Weston for their National League South opener next Saturday (August 5).
