GOSPORT Borough’s new boss Mick Catlin has made his first signing for the Evo-Stik South Premier strugglers.

Former Gosport skipper and diehard midfielder Jamie Brown has returned to the club after spells with Basingstoke Town and Winchester City.

Now 36, ex-Eastleigh man Brown was a firm fans’ favourite between 2011 and 2014, playing an integral part in the Borough team which climbed into the Conference South and made the 2014 FA Trophy final.

"I need his experience and someone like him to come in and do a job" the new boss explained.

Catlin saw the extent of the task ahead of him today as Borough were beaten 3-0 at home by Hitchin Town, keeping them second-to-bottom on one point.

Former assistant manager Danny Thompson, who briefly took caretaker charge following the sacking of Alex Pike, has left the club.

He tweeted: "Want to wish everyone all the best @GosportBFC loved my short spell in charge and wish everyone all the best."
