AFC TOTTON have come through an unbeaten November in the Evo-Stik South West.

Now manager Louis Langdown is hoping the Christmas period proves just as productive for his rapidly maturing Stags.

Taking the 1-0 Challenge Cup defeat against higher league Weymouth out of the equation, Totton are unbeaten since October 24.

With just 15 league goals conceded all season, they boast the meanest defence in the division and head into Saturday's home clash against Cirencester Town with an impressive record of five wins and a draw from seven league games at The Total Branding Community Stadium.

The Stags sit ninth in the table, just three points adrift of fourth-placed Winchester City with two games in hand over their Hampshire rivals.

They were meant to be at home again on Tuesday (December 5) against high-riding Bideford AFC, but that fixture must be rearranged because of the Robins’ county cup commitments.

“We’re losing track with games and at some point we’ll have to wedge them all in,” said manager Louis Langdown.

“They all seem to want to play in January and we all know what will happen then – they’ll be called off too (due to the weather)! But it will all even itself out by the end of the season.

“We’ve had an unbeaten November and if we do that again in December, we’ll be buzzing.

“We’ve got Cirencester on Saturday and we’ll probably slide down the league if we lose, but it’s nice to have games in hand and not be too far away from the top.

“There’s a long way to go yet. Some squads will deplete and others will strengthen as the season goes on.

“We’re good at just getting on with our own business and, as long as we continue to be positive, we’ll be fine.

“Apart from Sam Roberts, everyone’s good to go on Saturday. We thought we’d lose (midfielder) Jack Masterton for picking up a fifth booking in the Russell Cotes Cup but it doesn’t count apparently, so that was a nice surprise.”

Defender Roberts’ long-term groin problem may yet require an operation. “We don’t need to push him. Sam will make the decision that’s in his own best interests,” said Langdown.
