CHRISTCHURCH upped their quest for Sydenhams One promotion with a slender 1-0 win over Romsey Town at the MA Hart Stadium on Saturday.
Neither side had seen much action since the turn of the year due to a raft of postponements and it was Priory who came out on top thanks to a Jon Blake goal.
Ollie Cherrett's Christchurch have lost just once in 20 league games – at US Portsmouth in August – and will fancy themselves for another three-point haul when they host rock-bottom Folland Sports on Wednesday (7.45pm).
Just one point separates the top-four teams with AFC Stoneham and Christchurch locked together on 47, just adrift of Laverstock & Ford and Andover New Street.
Stoneham maintained their challenge with a 2-0 home win over Totton & Eling courtesy of Alex Welch and Matt Bainbridge.
The Purples have a big date tomorrow (Tuesday, 7.45pm), away to Southern League outfit AFC Totton in the semi-finals of the Russell Cotes Cup.
*Matt Scott has parted company with Sydenhams Premier leaders Andover Town to join another promotion quest nearby.
The central defender has opted to leave the Portway Stadium in favour of joining Andover New Street’s push to climb out of Sydenhams Wessex One.
Second-placed New Street missed the chance to go top when beaten 3-2 at home by US Portsmouth.
