BRAISHFIELD Football Club are still counting the cost of ‘The Beast From The East.’

The Southampton Saturday League Premier Division outfit suffered serious damage to their clubhouse when blizzard-like conditions swept in from Siberia.

A frozen pipe burst in the subzero temperatures, leaving destruction in its path.

The away dressing room suffered the brunt of the damage with a large section of the ceiling caving in and the electrics failing.

It’s a real kick in the teeth for the Premier Division club who have dedicated so much time and effort to upgrading the village Recreation Ground.

“This is especially upsetting for the committee, who worked so hard raising funds and constructing the building back in 2012/13,” reported disappointed club secretary/press officer Lee Whitelock.

“At present it is not known how long the facility will be out of use for.”

Braishfield currently run two adult sides, first team and reserves, in the Southampton Saturday League.

They also have various boys’ teams playing in the Testway Youth League.

*Braishfield under-16s played their second game in 48 hours on a rain-soaked pitch at Hunts Farm on Saturday.

They were full of running, punishing strugglers Fordingbridge 12-0 through Cam Griffiths 3, Will Johnson 3, Jonny Palmer 2 Marcus Gibson, Callum Crotty, an own goal, and Thomas Loades.
