BOSS Matty Holmes expressed his pride as Wimborne Town reached the final of the Evo-Stik South West play-offs.

First-half goals from Toby Holmes – his 60th of the season – and Jack Lovell, son of Magpies legend Jason, clinched a 2-0 semi-final win over Didcot Town.

It set up a Cuthbury showdown against Swindon Supermarine, conquerors of Evesham on penalties, on Monday (3pm) with the winners of that shootout earning promotion to the Premier Division.

“It's incredible!" smiled Holmes. “As the season went on, we grew in confidence, we went into games and kept winning. The momentum kept going.

“Didcot are a good side. They had good form coming into the game, like us, and I was very proud of the way the boys went about it, especially in the first half.

“We will go into the final with no fear. Hopefully, we have put the town on the map as they have a football team to be proud of.”

*Paulsgrove have been crowned Hampshire Premier League champions, but former leaders Infinity are still in with a chance of silverware.

They play Sway in the HPL Cup final at the Hamble Community Facility on Monday (3pm).

The Combination final between Overton Utd Res and QK Southampton Res kicks off at 10.30am at the same venue.
