PETERFIELD Town’s vice-chairman Graeme Moir has stepped down after 11 years with the Sydenhams Wessex League club.

During his long association with the Love Lane outfit, Moir has served as both chairman and vice-chairman, but has decided enough is enough.

After winning back-to-back Sydenhams One and Sydenhams Premier titles under the leadership of then manager Ian Saunders, the Rams have been struggling ever since.

They had a brief spell in the Southern League and now find themselves heading back into the Wessex League’s second tier after a difficult 2017/18.

Moir admitted: “It has not been an easy decision to reach, particularly as I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with the Rams and had a largely successful time with the club.

“But for a whole host of reasons I believe now is the right time to step aside and allow other people to now take the club forward and let some fresh ideas and energy take the club back to where it belongs – that is a minimum of Wessex Premier Division football and perhaps higher in the future.

“During my time with the club, we have made some incredible progress.

“Off the pitch new floodlights were installed and the stadium was upgraded to Southern League standards.

“To have played a part in those achievements over the last decade or so makes me incredibly proud and has given me some of the best experiences I have ever had in football and sport.”
