BROCKENHURST’S Mark Barker will be out on the pitch in the FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday – but in name only.
The FA has put the names of 137 goalscorers from across the football pyramid onto the match ball for the big Chelsea v Manchester United showdown.
Barker is one of them, having scored twice in Brock’s 5-2 extra preliminary round victory over Wessex League rivals Team Solent at Test Park.
The ‘Ball for All’ initiative celebrates players from Step 6 of the National League System through to the Premier League, who all share the accolade of scoring in the world’s oldest domestic cup competition.
Brockenhurst have ordered a souvenir ball for long-serving winger Barker to keep as a memento of the occasion.
Liam Pullen, who scored Chipping Sodbury's first ever goal in the FA Cup back in August, will carry the ball out at Wembley.
