Sholing will be speaking to their top gun Lee Wort today amid rumours that he is wanted by new Havant & Waterlooville boss Stuart Ritchie.

"We've got an option on Lee, but I'm a believer in never holding anyone back," said Sholing boss Dave Diaper.

"But Havant are two leagues higher than us and I will be impressing on Lee the importance of getting games rather than sitting on the bench.

"I feel he needs to develop as a player.

"For formation reasons he came off the bench a few times for us, but he got the most minutes out of anyone at the club last season."

Wort bagged 25 league goals for Sholing last term, placing him second on the Evo-Stik South & West top scorers' list behind Gosport Borough's 34-goal marksman Justin Bennett.

Winchester City, meanwhile, are targeting AFC Totton's Michael Charles and Bashley's Mark Gamble as possible replacements for ex-Saints hot-shot Jamie White, who will be training with AFC Bournemouth in pre-season.
