SHOLING will be playing at the grandly named Universal Stadium next season.

Jim Brady of Universal Plumbing Supplies, based in Lodge Road, Portswood, was quick off the mark when the naming rights to the Boatmen’s Portsmouth Road ground became available at the end of 2015/16.

His backing provides valued support to the 2014 FA Vase winners who finished runners-up in the Sydenhams Premier Division last term.

Brady, whose company have succeeded Silverlake as stadium sponsors, said: “It’s exciting times ahead for everyone and the thought of helping a local football club was very appealing. Also, it would be nice to see the club do what they achieved back in 2014.

Sholing is a good, friendly, family club and play very good football.

“It made it easy for me to buy into the club and be a part of a club that is looking to move forward.

“With the opportunities and ambitions Sholing FC have, there is no reason they can’t follow on and become the next Eastleigh in the near future.”

Club chairman Gerry Roberts is thrilled with the new venture. “On behalf of everybody at Sholing FC, I am delighted to welcome Jim and Universal Plumbing Supplies into the Sholing family,” he said.

"We all look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship.”
