SHOLING'S next FA Cup oppenents will be Bashley who celebrated back-to-back wins for the first time since April 2013 on Saturday.

The rejuventated Foresters beat much-fancied Horndean 2-1 in the FA Cup extra preliminary round.

Goals by Will Heather (penalty) and Brad Morris saw Tom Prodomo's men battle back from behind to follow up their 1-0 midweek league success over Hamworthy.

Facing a strong wind, Bashley, with new signing Hugh Dathan from Blackfield & Langley at right wing-back, found themselves a goal down after 20 minutes - Mark Smith the scorer.

Heather equalised from the spot on 54 minutes after Dathan had been upended and the introduction of Harry Morgan gave the Foresters added impetus.

Morris's winner was spectacular, lifting the ball into the top corner from all of 35 yards.

The celebrations were nearly stifled by a last-gasp Deans attack, but the ball scraped the post.

Bashley's reward is a home tie against Dave Diaper's Sholing on Saturday week (August 20).

The Boatmen - home to Cowes Sports in the Sydenhams Premier tomorrow (Tuesday, 7.30pm) - eased into the preliminary round with a 4-1 victory over Bournemouth Poppies on Friday.

They too fell behind to a 19th-minute Dave Ewen penalty, but goals by Dan Mason, Byron Mason and a sensational, dipping Kieran Winman strike from the halfway line made it 3-1 at half-time.

Sholing put the icing on the FA Cup cake in the last minute when Byron Mason headed down for brother Dan to tap in.

Tomorrow's visitors Cowes crashed out of the Cup 3-0 at home to Brislington, while Isle of Wight neighbours Newport also exited 1-0 at Oldland Abbotonians.
