SHOLING have significantly boosted their chances of Sydenhams Premier glory by welcoming prolific marksman Lee Wort back to the Universal Stadium.

Manager Dave Diaper is aiming to get the 25-year-old back to his sharpshooting best after spells away with Gosport Borough and Poole Town.

Wort made a brief return to Sholing towards the end of last season after leaving Vanarama National League South outfit Gosport where his chances of first-team football were limited.

With a number of offers to choose from, the St Mary’s-based striker became an official Poole player in June, having previously impressed for the Dolphins on loan, but has been unable to force his way into the side.

He has been welcomed back with open arms by Sholing, having previously made 308 appearances for the Boatmen and been part of their epic 2013/14 FA Vase/Sydenhams Premier double-winning campaign.

“It’s good to see Lee back in a Sholing shirt,” said Diaper. “It’s part of my job to try and get him back to what he was two or three years ago when he was a prolific goalscorer for us in the Southern League, banging in over 30 goals in what was a very good side.

“It’s a great signing for us and a great boost for the club.

"We would like to thank Poole Town for moving this on swiftly to enable Lee to be available for our away match at Horndean this coming Saturday."

Sholing are currently third in the Sydenhams Premier, seven points adrift of league leaders Moneyfields with two games in hand.

The Boatmen are offering FREE admission to all spectators for their November 5 game at home to Brockenhurst.
