Sholing are hoping to have Barry Mason available for tomorrow night’s Hampshire Senior Cup tie at AFC Portchester.

The midfielder is 50-50 for the Boatmen’s game against their league rivals after being injured in the 3-0 Sydenhams Wessex League win against Hamworthy United.

Dan Mason headed his 25th goal of the season and Barry doubled the lead before limping off in the 69th minute.

Lee Wort struck the third with his left foot into the bottom corner in the 88th minute.

“We’ll see how Barry is on the night. He played extremely well on Saturday but we won’t risk him,” said Sholing boss Dave Diaper.

Sholing’s win ensured they did not lose any ground on leaders Moneyfields, who still have a three-point advantage thanks to their 5-1 win at Cowes Sports.

The Boatmen remain four points above Portchester, who won 3-2 with ten men at Amesbury Town on Saturday and are now unbeaten in 15 matches.

“It was an excellent win considering Byron Mason was suspended and Zac Mouland was away,” said Diaper, who has both available for tonight’s game.

“I told the players it would be tough as Hamworthy’s results have improved under the former Weymouth manager (Brendon King).

“We started a lot brighter than we have of late.”

Sholing played Graham Rix’s Portchester twice in September, winning 4-1 there in the league cup before coming from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 in the league at the Silverlake Arena.

“Graham was a bit distraught at the end of that one as we equalised in the last minute but both sides are on good runs,” continued Diaper, whose side is now unbeaten in eight matches.

“I’ve got a lot of time for Portchester, they’ve got a good youth set-up and both sides are evenly matched.

“It’ s going to be a close game.”

AFC Fawley ended a run of eight successive defeats by winning 3-2 away to Lymington Town.

The Oilers’ miserable run had included six losses in as many home games but they go into tonight’s Hampshire Senior Cup game at AFC Stoneham with their confidence renewed after finally earning three points.

Kyle Joryeff and Ben Bolton put Fawley 2-0 up at half-time. Samuel House and former Fawley man Charlie Willett brought Lymington level before man-of-the-match Aaron Lucas netted the dramatic winner.

AFC Stoneham won at home to another Waterside club on Saturday, beating Hythe & Dibden 2-0 in Wessex One thanks to goals from Ollie Forbes and Sergio Caballero.

Alresford Town are unbeaten in five matches going into tonight’s Wessex league match at Bemerton Heath Harlequins after winning an eight-goal thriller against Bashley.
Tom Sands, who blasted over 40 goals last season for Otterbourne in the Hampshire Premier League, gave the Magpies the lead, which was doubled by an emphatic volley from Sam Burt.
Steve Hall put Town 3-0 up but Bashley pulled two back through Kabba Jack and hit the crossbar with a free-kick.
Jack scored a penalty and reduced the arrears further before Alresford restored their two-goal advantage through John Cole.
They did so again when  Hall went round the keeper to complete the scoring with his second.

Brockenhurst entertain Sydenhams Wessex Premier leaders Moneyfields tonight on the back of a 3-2 win against crisis club Newport IoW.
Jude Nwachurwu, Mitch Speechley-Price and William Tickle scored the goals in Brock’s win against the Islanders, for whom Darren Powell made his 500th appearance.
Brock were 2-0 up at half-time and Tickle made it 3-1 in the 77th minute before Joe Butcher netted a consolation second for the visitors in injury time.
Newport were last month given nine months to quit their St George’s Park home where their landlords, South Coast Leisure, plan to build a retail park.
The two parties have failed to reach agreement on a new ground for the club, who host Sholing this Saturday.

WESSEX ONE

Hamble Club gained a significant advantage at the top of Sydenhams Wessex One - after defeats for their nearest rivals.
They won the six-pointer against third-placed Baffins Milton Rovers - and Laverstock & Ford dropped to second place after a shock defeat at bottom-of-the table Andover New Street.
Half-volleys from Coby Wilson and Nathan Lynch gave Hamble a 2-0 half-time lead before Baffins netted a last-minute consolation through Chaz Gardner.
Hamble, who are away to Petersfield Town in the Russell Cotes Cup tonight, are now a point clear of Laverstock with two games in hand and six above Baffins, who have played two games more.
Andover NS celebrated only their second league win of the season after Luke Cairney scored the only goal in the 26th minute away to previous league leaders Laverstock.
Romsey Town won their second match in succession, 3-1 at Pewsey Vale, after a run of seven successive defeats
Dan Fox netted a brace in the opening 17 minutes to put Town 2-0 up. David Cope soon pulled one back but Josh Harvey secured the points in the second half.
Folland Sports crashed to a 4-2 defeat against US Portsmouth, who scored all their goals in the first half.
Joseph Cloake scored a brace of consolation goals in the second half.
