A pair of amateur pub darts players from Gosport have been offered an opportunity to break into the professional tour circuit. Mike Symes and Dave Harper, of the Carisbrooke Arms, have secured a place at the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) qualifying school after finishing in the top eight of the national Redtooth Darts tournament in Sheffield. If successful at Q.School, which takes place in Wigan next month, the pair will join the best 225 professional players in the world on the PDC tour. The Redtooth Darts final was attended by 16-time World Champion Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor and 125 amateurs from across the country. Also attending was last year’s Redtooth Darts winner, Paul ‘Moo Moo’ Amos, who is now a professional player. The 37-year-old father of two has won more than £7,000 in prize money since earning an official PDC tour card in January this year and is currently ranked 94th in the world. Redtooth Darts remains open for pubs to enter throughout the year. For more information visit www.redtoothdarts.com or call 01246 813 713.
