THE TOURNAMENT may not have served up a British winner this year but that has not stopped Wimbledon inspiring scores of pupils to give the sport a try.
This week each and every child at Springhill Catholic Primary school in Southampton will be given a tennis lesson as part of their own ‘Wimbledon Week’.
The event has been arranged by the sports department at the school in conjunction with the Serving Tennis organisation which has provided coaches to help put the 630 youngsters through their paces.
Each pupil has been given a one-hour coaching session which is hoped will encourage more youngsters to take up the sport.
