Trojans got an insight into what levels they need to aspire to when unbeaten South League Premier Division 2 leaders Henley beat them 5-0 at Stoneham Lane.

New boys in SL2 this season, Trojans have won four of their seven matches.

But, as Henley clinically demonstrated, the Stoneham side are some way from mixing it with the top sides in the division.

Orchestrated by former Reading international pair Reece Joyce and Manny Kachor, Henley eased themselves into an early 2-0 lead – and seldom looked in much trouble thereafter.

Two soft goals, comfortably tucked away by Luke Gupta from a penalty corner and James Hibberd, put Henley in the driving seat, leaving Trojans with little possession and only one penalty corner, which Eddie Evans struck wide.

The evergreen Steve Cole had to make some fine saves in the Trojans goal before Luke Gupta scored Henley’s third.

Ben Moore did his best to fire Trojans from midfield and set up one frantic goalmouth melee, which culminated in Toby Edwards hitting the base of the visitors’ upright.

On target, it would have been a farewell goal for Edwards, who plays his last match for Trojans at London Edwardians on Saturday before setting off on a bag-packing trip around the globe.

That was as good as it got for Trojans, who leaked further goals by Geoff Joseph and Chris Green before their hockey lesson ended.
