Old Tauntonians & Romsey seconds have been formally crowned County Division 2 winners – after one of the tightest Hampshire League championship successes of the season.
Skipper Keith Trodd led OTs & Romsey home – a mere 0.06 points per average separating the eventual winners from Burridge II, the only team to beat them in the 14-match programme, writes MIke Vimpany.
Stuart Shapland, whose 352-run tally included 157 against Hungerford, led the batting charts, and also took 16 wickets. John Dowling (325 runs and 15 wickets) was almost as effective, with Mike Trodd (259), Nick DeStefano (210) and Paul Longland (210) playing support roles. Spin duo Phil Wyatt and schoolboy Harry Tulk each took 18 wickets.
