Chandler’s Ford brothers Adam and David Knott both netted vitals goals at the Great Britain Goalball team gained promotion to Europe’s B League at a tournament in Sweden.

Adam, a student studying music at Southampton University, and David, currently at Peter Symonds College, went to Malmo last week and were crowned champions of the International Blind Sports Federation European Men’s C competition.

Going into the competition as the top-ranked side, they beat Greece, Italy, Bulgaria and Croatia in the group stage.

Then in the finals they overcame earlier defeats from Portugal and Russia to win a close gold medal match 6-5.

Much of the success was down to the impressive team performances from the Knott brothers, David Butler, Filmon Eyassu and Dan Roper.

Adam and David, who founded Winchester Goalball Club two years ago and the domestic league last season, netted 22 and 20 goals respectively of the 68 scored by GB on the way to promotion.
