Cracking undulate rays have been recorded from shore locations along the Milford-on-Sea section with Adam Wells (Southampton) beaching a 15lb 1oz beauty.

Wells, who was using a sandeel as bait, also caught a 3lb small-eyed-ray during the same session.

Oliver Warren, 10, got on the record breaking trail when he also fished the Milford section where he beached a 12lb 10.5oz undulate ray.

That sets a new Lymington club junior record. The youngster who was fishing with his dad, Keith, used mackerel presented on a pulley rig to tempt the record breaker.

Whiting, pout, rays, dogfish, dabs, bass and rockling supplied the action during a Rovers Tackle catch-and-release midweek evening open held at Lee-on-the-Solent.

Dave Jones won the longest fish category with a 55cm dogfish from Peter Farrel (31cm whiting) and Dave Edwards, Ian Golds and Danny Mogridge (all 29cm whiting). Results: 1st Mick Amos 493cm, 2nd Ian Golds 490cm, 3rd Peter Farrell 432cm.

The next match in the pegged open league will be fished at Stokes Bay on April 30 from 8pm to 11.30pm. Tickets are pre book only and cost £7. Details from 01329 220354.

Eastney was the setting for the second round of the pegged open catch-and-release Solent League.

Pout, whiting, bass, flounders and rockling figured in the catch.

The night’s heaviest round fish was a bass recorded by Ian Golds while the flatfish pool was won by Nick May. The overall winner was Darren Newland, from the Isle of Wight, with 7lb 1oz.

Results: A zone, 1st Nick May 5lb 8.25oz, 2nd Mick Goodger 4lb 10oz, 3rd Dave Ware 3lb 9oz. B zone, 1st Darren Newland 7lb 1oz, 2nd Paul Stevens 5lb 9oz, 3rd Peter Farrell 5lb 7oz.
