A NEW Forest football team are today celebrating after ending one of the worst losing streaks in English football.
After 26 successive defeats – most of them by heavy margins – Bashley finally picked up a point last night in Division 1 of the Southern League (South & West).
In front of 71 diehard supporters, Bash drew 0-0 with Mangotsfield.
Though they are now off the mark, they remain 20 points adrift of third from bottom Wantage – and, unsurprisingly, possess a worse goal difference.
Bashley have only scored nine times in their 27 league games this season, while conceding a horrendous 124.
Their worst defeat was a 10-0 home hammering by Cinderford, while they have also lost 9-0 at Wantage, 8-0 to North Leigh and 8-0 to Banbury.
Prior to last night, the closest they had come to not losing was a 1-0 home defeat against Shortwood on October 17.
