TOTTON cycling star Jon Dibben has been selected to ride for Great Britain in next month’s UCI Track World Championships in London.

The former New Forest Cycling Club member is one of eight men named in the endurance squad alongside track legends such as Sir Bradley Wiggins and Mark Cavendish.

Southampton-born Dibben, who celebrated his 22nd birthday last week and is now based in Manchester, will be aiming to add to his impressive performances in recent years.

In April 2013, Dibben helped GB’s Team Pursuit squad win bronze in the second round of the UCI Track World Cup in Mexico.

Dibben, who is based in Manchester with the rest of the GB cycling squad, missed the 2014 Commonwealth Games due to injury.

But in October of that year he became European team pursuit champion.

He also scooped the silver medal in the omnium event.

At the opening round of the UCI Track World Cup series in Mexico, Jon formed part of the silver medal winning team pursuit squad.

In October 2015, Dibben retained his European team pursuit title in Grenchen, beating hosts Switzerland in the final alongside Wiggins, Andy Tennant and Owain Doull.

Dibben followed that up with a gutsy performance to win bronze in the omnium, climbing from ninth place prior to the points race to the podium.
