BLACKFIELD & Langley are top of the Sydenhams Wessex Premier after a 3-0 home win over Hamworthy tonight.
Goals from Liam Robinson (2) and Sam Poole lifted the Watersiders two points clear of Portland, who had gone top by winning 4-2 at Team Solent last night.
Two goals in the opening seven minutes – a deflected Jamie Beasley shot and an Alex Halloran penalty - got the Islanders off to a perfect start before Solent hit back through player-boss James Taylor just before the break.
But Tom Richardson took just two second-half minutes to restore United’s two-goal cushion and, although they were pegged back again with 25 minutes to go when veteran striker Taylor headed in a free kick, Halloran added his second.
Sholing could have joined Blackfield in top spot tonight but they lost 3-2 at Moneyfields after twice leading through Nick Yeomans and Zac Mouland.
