IT’S a happy dressing room as Calmore Sports celebrate their Southern Premier League Division 2 championship triumph – their first since winning the Hampshire League back in 1994.
Their success was confirmed when rain washed out the final match of the season at Bashley (Rydal), who were relegated as a consequence.
Calmore won 10 of their 14 completed fixtures and finished eight points above Tichborne Park, who are promoted alongside them as runners-up.
Bashley, with a far sharper than normal bowling attack, had posted a testing 208-6, with Andy Neal (83) and Neil Thurgood (53) sharing a century third wicket stand.
But teatime rain rendered the remainder of the match academic and allowed Calmore to return to their Loperwood Park base for a lengthy celebratory night.
