Players from the other end of the M27 may have dominated Week 2 of the top quality Southampton Darts Series - but they were not the stars of the show.
That honour went to experienced Steve Perren from Hedge End who chalked up an astonishing 37.11 single dart average during one of his games.
It came in his game against Portsmouth’s Jane Monaghan and included legs of 12, 13, 14 and 15 darts – something you might expect to see in the final of a world championship.
Former county player Perren also nailed six maximums during the evening at Bitterne Park Social Club.
He eventually lost out 4-3 to Danny Smith from Paulsgrove who went on to defeat Gosport’s Justin Bradshaw 4-2 in the final.
Top finish of the evening was John Banks’ 141 – he also hit a 12-dart leg.
Gosport’s Mike Symes won the Plate competition with a 3-2 victory over Winchester’s Chaz Barstow.
