EASTLEIGH’S Conference South-winning goalkeeper Ross Flitney has joined the Spitfires’ National League rivals Bromley.

His arrival at Hayes Lane coincides with news that Bromley have accepted a transfer request from established stopper Alan Julian.

Flitney, 32, was signed by former Eastleigh boss Richard Hill in 2012, initially on loan.

Having seen off competition from Michael Poke last term, he began this season as Spitfires’ number one but left the club during Ronnie Moore’s reign following the arrival of Ryan Clarke.

He linked up again with Hill at Whitehawk but, with the ex-Eastleigh boss having left the Hawks for a scouting job with Aston Villa, the former Barnet, Dover and Gillingham 'keeper departed at the end of January.

Bromley boss Neil Smith said: “It’s great to have Ross on board with all his experience.

“It was an easy decision to make with Ross having played at this level and above as well as having a great reputation and a hunger to stay and play at the highest level possible.”

Flitney himself added: “I’m pleased with the move, I have worked with Neil Smith before and I know about the club’s ambitions, so I knew it was the right decision.

"To get back to playing at the highest level possible is exciting and I look forward to the challenge ahead.”

Bromley are due to visit the Silverlake on Easter Monday, April 17.
