Mick Hawkins and Maurice Townsend won the Eastleigh Carp and Silvers League on Witherington Farm.

They finished with 71 series points and collected £300 in prize money.

A section win for Hawkins and good points for Townsend was enough to hold off the challenge of Jem Turner and Terry Hiscock (66 points).

Others: C.Albiston and L.Woodhouse 64, D.Higgins and G.Naylor (Snows Toyota) 61, C.Egerton and R.Kelly 55.

In the final round on Topmoor at Witherington, Ray Kelly had the top weight of carp with 44 lb 10 oz with Lee Woodhouse second with 29 lb.

Paul Fellbrich had the top weight of silvers with 9 lb 8 oz from Dan Sherfield with 7 lb 8 oz.

The Witherington Farms Teams of Four has seen the total eclipse of defending champions Reids Tackle, who are seventh.

However, there is a rare old tussle going on for the lead.

On the day, Dandy’s K2 won with 38 points from Eastleigh Mosella Red (33) and Eastleigh Misfits (28).

Overall, Dandy’s K2 lead with 169 points from Eastleigh Reds (164) and Barneys Blacks (163).

Individually on the day, Malc Pepperell (Barneys Blacks) took 89 lb 4 oz of mainly big carp to 14 lb on pole and maggot from peg 58 on Topmoor.

Mick Aldis (Eastleigh Mosella Red) caught late from peg 74 to finish with 74 lb 10 oz of carp taken on pole and maggot down the middle.

Others A.Potter (Dandy’s K2) 63 lb 8 oz, C.Opie (Eastleigh Misfits) 57 lb 4 oz.

The Avon and Nadder Pairs saw 24 pairs compete on rivers that were high and coloured.

The match saw three pairs tie on 11 points each so was decided on weight.

Portsmouth pair Ian Snook and Chris Gillett had the superior weights with 18 lb from Dave George and Dave Tucker (15 lb 2 oz) and Steve Trevitt and Marcus Crook (12 lb).

On The Nadder, individual winner was Ian Snook with 12 lb 12 oz of chub from Deanery Meadow on waggler and maggot.

Anthony Sparrow finished second with 11 lb 2 oz of chub also from Deanery Meadow.

On The Avon, Dave George won with 7 lb 12 oz of roach on stick float and maggot from Chris Opie with chub and roach for 7 lb 2 oz.

The Wimborne club match on Dandy’s Fords Match Lake went to Steve Mancey who took 47 lb of carp on dobbed bread from peg 4 down the edge.

Jem Turner finished second with 32 lb 1 oz of carp from peg 17 on bread in the margins.

Others: C.Albiston 30 lb 1 oz, M.Jepson 26 lb, C.Parman 22 lb 9 oz.

Eastleigh’s club match on Kingham Lake at Winnall went to Dick Reeves who took 13 lb 10 oz of bream and roach on pole and maggot from peg 3 to win comfortably.

Rick Kajko finished second with 8 lb 12 oz of skimmers and roach from peg 11 on the pole.

Others: P.White and S.Ware 8 lb 4 oz, S.Humphreys 6 lb, A.Pragnall and D.Beaumont 5 lb 8 oz.

AROUND THE LAKES

On Hordle's Lakes, Kev McCauley caught15 fish over a five-night stay including four twenties to 23 lb 2 oz and a 22 lb 8 oz mirror stocked two years ago at 17 lb.

Chris Trent took a 22 lb mirror and a personal best of 29 lb 5 oz, while Josh Hiscock took five fish to 18 lb 8 oz in 24 hours.

Lee Sawyer continued a good spell on Rookley Park on The Isle of Wight when landing a 15 lb 2 oz common, a 29 lb mirror and Bill at 37 lb 12 oz - all taken on Carp Company’s Fruity Nekta.

Todber Manor's Paddock Lake has been in tremendous form with a string of big fish.

Malcolm Dix banked four carp, topped by a new personal best with the Broken Linear at 35 lb 2 oz on C.C Moore Live System.

Ashton Groves landed The Fossil at 31 lb 8 oz on C.C Moore Pacific tuna boilies, and Luke Warr took a 25 lb 4 oz. Matt Gainard landed a 28 lb.

Tom Butler landed four carp, including a 25 lb mirror and a 25 lb 8 oz common, whilee Dave Coogan landed two carp to 25 lb 4 oz.

On Big Hayes, Jack Miller took seven carp to 25 lb 8 oz and Dave Jones three fish to 28 lb 1 oz.

On Willow Bank, Ryan Sanders took six6 carp to 17 lb 8 oz, while Terry Chalke landed three carp to 19 lb. Andy Maxted Mill took a 17 lb 9 oz.

On Wadmill, Keira Derrick took 13 carp to mid doubles in a day session, while Harry Bryant took nine carp to 24 lb.
