This has been a fantastic year for Fareham-based Palmerston Indoor Bowls Club.

Their men's team won the Hampshire Bramley Cup trophy and their Ladies team have won a national title in the Vivienne Trophy.

Palmerston travelled to Melton Mowbray to beat Lincoln in the final - a great way to celebrate the club's 20th anniversary.

Halfway through the final Palmerston were trailing, but in a tense finish triumphed 61-55.

Marilyn Hales, Daphne Blackburn and Janet Mudd (skip) lost their rink 12-17, Maggie Evans, Sylvia Austin and Marilyn Williamson (skip) won 19-11, Daphne Walton, Wynn Small and Janet Chinn (skip) won 17-16, and Jill Cook, Mo Browne and Maureen Holloway (skip)won 13-11.

This was the first time that any of the Palmerston team had ever played at this level of competition and the first time a national title has been won by the club.

There may be more success to come as Bill Jackson is through to the last 16 of the National Over 60’s Singles competition. He is due to play the next rounds at Melton Mowbray on Good Friday.

Palmerston are a thriving club with 800 playing members and 250 social members.
