Lymington junior Flora Munden certainly showed the seniors how it should be done during a club championship match fished along the Whitehouse section at Milford.

She landed a 3lb 1oz small-eyed-ray to win the event by a canter.

Apart from the ray, just a few dogfish and the odd silver eel were recorded during a tough evening.

Results: 1st Flora Munden 3lb 1oz, 2nd Colin Saunders 1lb 10oz, 3rd Roland Blomfield 1lb 8oz, 4th Jamie Munden 1lb 7.5oz.

With free club membership on offer, the first round of the Lymington junior catch & release summer league fished along the deep water section at Magazine Lane saw a good turnout of youngsters who fished in two groups, assisted and non assisted. Together the two groups recorded 93 fish, with the catch comprising of dogfish, smoothhound, pout, whiting and silver eels.

In the non assisted group, Owen Strange (Southampton) recorded the longest fish, a 51cm dogfish.

Results: 1st Riley Price 349cm, 2nd Bradley Mapstone 292cm, 3rd Owen Strange 249cm.

In the assisted group, Robert Savin landed the longest fish, a 55cm dogfish.

Results: 1st Robert Savin 334cm, 2nd Leo Chamberlin 191cm, 3rd Ollie Savin 186cm.

Cogden beach was the setting for the fourth round of the pegged open Samalite League where undulate rays, pout, small-eyed-rays, dogfish, plaice and smoothhound figured in the catch.

The night’s heaviest fish was an 8lb 2.5oz small-eyed-ray bagged by Daniel Crump.

Results: A zone, 1st Daniel Crump 9lb 2.5oz, 2nd Jeffery Fisk 5lb 4.5oz, 3rd Julian Shambrook 4lb 1.5oz. B zone, 1st Danny Woodcock 8lb 1.5oz, 2nd Tony Methven 6lb 14oz, 3rd Ian Dancey 5lb 9.5oz.

A £500 top prize could be on offer this Saturday evening when the Lymington Club stage their annual Spring open shore competition between Hordle and Hurst Castle. Fishing will be from 7pm to midnight with registration getting underway at the Needles Eye Cafe from 5.30pm. Details from 01425-616323.

SHIRLEY SAC: Stokes Bay was the setting for a latest shore competition where Kevin Dunham included a new club record undulate ray of 14lb 12oz in his 17lb 10oz winning catch.

Other species to figure included pout, dogfish, pollack and smoothhound.

The junior section was won by Jessica Dunham with 2lb 7.5oz.

Others: 2nd Bob Paterson 13lb 6oz, 2nd David Middleton 12lb 3oz, 4th Ryan Beale 8lb 4oz, 5th David Beale 7lb 7oz.

SANDDOWN & LAKE AC: Members sampled some excellent sport during the weekend fixture held on the local pier with Shaun Graham including four rays in his 30lb 4.5oz winning catch.

Others: 2nd Steve Smith 16lb 15oz, 3rd Peter Kingswell 10lb 5oz, 4th Ryan Bravery 4lb 2.2oz.

The junior section was won by Jake Gillford with 1lb 9oz.
