BRAMSHAW’S junior golfers have been crowned champions of England.
The Hampshire Junior League title winners took on Thirsk, Ealing, Whitley Bay, Royal Norwich and Chelmsford in the national final at Clitheroe in Lancashire.
In addition to winning the county title, Bramshaw had subsequently won through two more regional rounds to get this far.
Due to wet weather - parts of the course were waterlogged - the final was played over just nine holes rather than 18.
Bramshaw’s team - Elliot Thomas, Billy Lightfoot, Joe Buenfeld (captain), Ryan Archer, Anthony Sweeney and Ciaran Simpkin - ended up winning on countback from Whitley Bay.
They will now fly out to Portugal next March to represent England in the Home Nations Final.
Nev James, Bramshaw’s Junior Organiser, said: “Given our team is comparatively young, I am very proud of the way they played, handling the weather and the pressure so well.
“Every player gave a very solid performance and they are a genuine team, working with and supporting each other superbly.”
