SOUTHAMPTON'S Kane Ryves got a real surprise when his rod bent double while fishing from the slipway at Woolston.
The 11-year-year-old loaded a single hook baited with ragworm in the hope of the odd flattie.
After grabbing his rod, the line went slack until the culprit moved close into the margins where a 4lb 3oz bass suddenly appeared.
Kane, 11, was delighted and is now hooked for life.
