SINGING the Dad’s Army theme song, the six members of Folland D marched up the middle of Manor Farm Road with their snooker cues to their shoulders.

That was in the 1980s when “I was a youngster and we used to have a few beers,” chuckled Nick Taylor, now skipper of Atherley Bowling Club B.

Recalling how his side ‘celebrated’ a 5-0 defeat at Bitterne Park WMC, Taylor added: “We did used to sup a few then. We don’t do it now; we’re too old.”
