DRINKS were on the Romsey Road Runners on Sunday – as they hosted the Braishfield Beer Race.

With all the 238 runners receiving a beer or soft drink and cake on completing the run, the annual five-mile race is always one of the most popular in the calendar.

This year’s event was won by James Baker, from Chichester Runners, who completed the course in 26.16 mins, well clear of Southampton’s Thomas Muddiman, pictured right, who crossed the line in 28.03 for second place.

Poole Runners’ Mike Grist was another 20 seconds back in third place.

First lady home was Erica Fogg from New Forest Runners, who completed the scenic five-mile course in 30.57.
