Racing at Salisbury today has been abandoned through waterlogging.

Racecourse supremo Jeremy Martin had been confident the meeting would go ahead when he left the track about 6pm yesterday.

But it was then hit by another half an inch of rain, leaving parts of the last two furlongs unsafe.

It is the first meeting Salisbury has lost since July 2007 and the abandonment will cost asbout £75,000 in lost revenue.
