The 2014 Bramshaw Golf Club Junior Presentation & Social Evening saw around 60 juniors and parents joining in the ‘end of year’ fun.

A ‘Junior & Adult’ 11-hole competition was played on the Manor Course, so that younger juniors could join in. With a few Christmas hats, jumpers and new golf attire on show, everybody set off for a fun afternoon and enjoyed some good golf as well.

After this post-Christmas exercise, it was back to the clubhouse to get ready for the evening’s entertainment.

Firstly, it was the now annual opportunity to recognise and applaud the club’s talented ‘older and younger’ juniors, as club captain Sean Eckton and lady captain Jane Macdonald presented the successful golfers with trophies and awards won during the year.

The growing number of juniors at the club is bringing more success, with one of the club’s junior teams qualifying for the later rounds of the Junior Team Golf Championships and also reaching the semi-finals of the Blackmoor Shield.

With several of their girls and boys now representing the county, two on USA scholarships and one in the England regional boys squad, the club is enjoying successful times.

Their youngest golfers are being nurtured by head professional Clive Bonner and club professional Chris Fawcett to encourage and develop the golfers of the future.

Immediately after the presentation, a social evening of quiz and games took place with questions for 5-80 year olds, in teams of six, including individual games and activities and spot prizes.

From Sudoku to ‘malteser’ games, as many ‘talents’ as possible were catered for – and already the ideas are flowing in for next year.

The club is now preparing for its Nintendo Wii night in the middle of January and pre-season competition and skittles evening in mid-February.
