Southampton’s European Tour star Richard Bland is tied for sixth place after the opening round of the Malaysian Open.
The Stoneham ace shot four-under-par at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club this morning, to put himself among the early leaders.
Bland is just two shots behind Lee Westwood and Graeme McDowell, who top the standings on six-under.
Starting on the tenth, Bland was actually two-over after his first four holes.
However, he stormed back with six birdies in his final 12 holes to push him up the leaderboard.
Bland is due to begin his second round at 1.10am UK time on Friday.
